Russell Maroon Shoatz is a US held Black Unity Council and Black Liberation Army political prisoner. He has been in prison for over 40 years. This short film is part six of a weekly web series of Russell Shoatz III the son of Russell Maroon Shoatz, telling the story of his father.
In this weeks episode Russell Shoatz III, the son talks about the struggles of being a fatherless. With a vulnerable and brutal honesty Russell expresses the anger and hurt he felt about not having his father around. He also talks about his fathers “celebrity” in the media and how that affected his family. He speaks with a special fondness for his mother and how she was blindsided by her husband, Russell Maroon Shoatz militant political development.
